I have always been a caregiver, it is just my nature. I was an elementary school teacher for 20 years, a mom for 18+ years and a dog fanatic my whole life. I have always had dogs in my family. I had a Samoyed, a Peekapoo, and a Pug. However after my last dog passed away I found it was too upsetting to think about losing another dog. So I took a break from dog ownership for a few years. Now with 4 university tuitions upon us, or looming, it just doesn’t make financial sense to add vet bills to the mix. So the part of me that has always found joy from a dog’s unconditional love and spoiling them in return decided that I still need dogs in my life somehow… and The Fairy Dogmother was born.
For a few years I took in dogs and walked dogs on weekends, winter break, March break and summer holidays just to get my
dog “fix”. The dogs have been the source of so many smiles and laughs at our house. We love to get to know each of their personalities. We have had some real characters. Dogs are a great source of calm and happiness for me. I love to snuggle with them and try to bring them the same amount of joy that they bring to me. I really feel like being in a dog’s presence brings out the best in me.
After 20 years in education I knew that I needed a change in order to live my best life. So in early December 2022, instead of going back to work as a school teacher I started The Fairy Dogmother and began to pursue my own company for dog walking and pet care services as a full time job. It was a very scary decision to make.
Most of the families that I have met spoil their fur babies rotten and I love it. I adore spoiling them too. I truly love every dog I care for as if they were my own. We all just want what is best for our pets and when a dog’s parents aren’t available, I love being the one to grant the dog’s and family’s wishes. Seeing the dogs happy makes me happy. I know that my clients love seeing the pictures and videos that I send them of their pet’s adventures when they
are with my team and I.
As the mother of teenagers who no longer need me as much, I am filling my need to ‘mother’ by taking the best possible care of other people’s fur babies. I have just switched from caring for other people’s children in schools to caring for other people’s fur babies. Both are equally lovable. I try to treat everyone the way that I would like to be treated and I try to treat every dog the way that their family would treat them.
My name is Marissa and I am an animal lover living just outside of Cambridge on a farm in Puslinch. I have had animals my entire life and currently live with my husband, 2 cats and 2 miniature dachshunds. I have experience with large dogs as well and I am always eager to adapt and learn. I love to provide animals with companionship and support and know how to keep them safe and well behaved. I look forward to meeting your pup.
Hi! My name is Priscilla. I am an avid lover of animals of all kinds. Furry, feathery and scaley. I love them all. My pets all have a special place in my heart. My little lab mix girl is amazing and keeps me on my toes. I also have 2 cats, a tortoise and fish.
I grew up in Toronto where I started working in the pet industry at the age of 14. I have 20+ years of pet retail and veterinary assistant experience.
I moved to Cambridge 3 years ago with my family where I found The Fairy Dogmother and I am thrilled to be a part of the team. I really look forward to meeting your pup(s) and helping them be happy and healthy.

Dogs are naturally social animals, and interaction with other dogs can improve their social skills, reduce anxiety, and enhance their overall well-being.
In addition to physical exercise, group walks provide mental stimulation as dogs engage with their peers, explore new scents, and experience different environments.
Our group dog walks are scheduled at convenient times, making it easier for you to fit them into your busy schedule.
Choosing our insured dog walking service makes practical sense as we maintain a dedicated team with ample coverage, ensuring uninterrupted care for your pet even when one of our staff members falls ill or goes on vacation.
We carefully select dogs for each group based on their temperament and compatibility. This ensures a positive and safe experience for everyone involved.
Our dog walkers are equipped with essential safety gear, including leashes, harnesses, doggy seat belts and muzzles (if required). They maintain a controlled environment to prevent unwanted incidents.
The walk includes a mix of structured walking in designated, secure areas such as, local neighbourhoods, trails and park. This allows for controlled interaction and exercise.
Our dog walkers use positive reinforcement techniques to encourage good behavior and ensure a positive experience for all dogs.
